Ask A Seattle Baby Sleep Coach
We don’t focus on a single “method” like Ferber, CIO, or Pick up Put Down. Instead, our Seattle baby sleep coach will spend time observing your baby to find out they are capable of doing and create a plan based on your baby’s age and needs. While we all Mommywise Certified Sleep Coaches have a similar approach, we customize our support to each family.
Change is hard, and usually means there will be tears along the way. We don’t sugar coat that.
Like you, we want to avoid locking your baby in a room, shutting the door and ignoring them until the morning- which is what most people call “cry it out.” Instead, we want to encourage your baby to learn the skills they need to fall asleep on their own, in a safe, observed manner, while you get guidance on when and how to assist. This means that we are all working together to address communicating with your baby, changing old habits, and replacing them with more sustainable new habits for the whole family.
Our goal is to minimize the tears throughout the entire process. In fact, most of our clients tell us their baby was crying more before sleep training than they did during the process.
We start working with clients as early as 4 months of age all the way through 2 years of age. We find that babies who have moved out of that important “fourth trimester”, shifted into their new circadian rhythms (this is what happens in that 4 month sleep regression), and have weight gain and established feeding habits that are conducive to long term successful sleep training.
We take our promise to get your baby sleeping very seriously. You’ll be offered a call for a thorough, 45 minute sleep assessment where we dig deeply into the routines, attachments, and associations that are happening for your baby. We’ll ask questions about your baby’s health, along with your goals as the parent. Through this assessment and answering your questions about the process, we come to an agreement about whether working together is the right fit.
We’ll make recommendations of which program we believe you need to be most successful, any obstacles that we see might be in the way, and anything else that may mean that working together may or may not be the right fit.
We’re not shy in referring people to other resources if we don’t believe we can help you get your baby sleeping through the night. We would much rather that you have the right resource than sell you something that would waste your time and energy.
Absolutely. We love helping you create a plan for your twins to sleep in the same room. The majority of the time, this works just fine. On rare occasion, twins tell us they will be better sleepers if in different rooms, but that’s often just for a nap, not all the time.
We love to support families that are co-sleeping. However, at this time, our expertise is supporting families that are ready to move their baby to a separate sleeping area and to sleep completely on their own.
After your complimentary 45-minute Sleep Assessment, we’ll give you the thumbs up or down on whether we believe we can truly get your baby sleeping through the night and support you 100%. We’ll make a recommendation on the packages that would suit you, with pros and cons, and anything else that you will need to have in place to work together.
We’ll find the soonest possible dates that work for you and your coach (we know you’re tired!). The coach stays with you for either 2 or 3 full days and nights, supporting you and your baby during the process. When the coach leaves, you’ll have confidence in supporting your baby’s new habits and will have an understanding on how to get through hiccups like teething, illness, travel etc. It’s inevitable that your baby will hit new developmental skills or have a hiccup sometime in the month of follow up support. You can use your 3 scheduled coaching calls to fine tune your baby’s sleep habits, work through these new developments, or just check in and let us know how wonderful your world feels now that you’re sleeping!
Our promise to you is that we will continue working with you until your baby is sleeping through the night. We are as committed to you as you are to the process. So long as you work alongside your coach, implementing the ideas we suggest, keeping the dialogue open, your baby will succeed - and we will be there with you every step of the way.
It is rare that a baby isn’t sleeping through the night when we leave. But all of our clients meet their goals before the end of our support period. 100%.
We recommend picking up any book that is fun reading for you. Seriously, skip the googling and all the baby sleep books. You’ll end up confused and frustrated and feeling guilty. No one has time for that. We’ve read them, we do this all the time. Let us sift through what’s right for you and your baby so you don’t have to.
The majority of the families we work with reach out because they are reaching exhaustion and want a solution that will make drastic changes quickly but will also last. This means our availability is changing day to day based on first come, first served. We are usually booked out a couple weeks to a month at a time.
We recommend that you do book in advance if you know that you are ready to sleep train. Many families will set up our services when their baby gets to a specific age.
We sure do. We are thrilled to support families all around the Seattle area, including Tacoma, Renton, Olympia, Redmond and all the way into Portland, Or.
We’re happy to travel if need be. And we can also refer you to another Mommywise Certified Sleep Coach if there is one in your region of the country.
